Beringer Vineyard Wine Tasting Notes
Beringer is one of the bigger name wineries in Napa and is also steeped in Napa History. This is one of those places where you should really take the tour because you'll get a quick primer in Napa wine history, the outrageous tale of the Beringer brothers, a tour through the 1,200 linear feet of underground tunnels completed by Chinese immigrant workers in the 1870's, and a peak at some of the historic homes on the property dating back to the mid-1800's.
The beautiful grounds and historic buildings aren't the only reason to stop. The wines are good, but readily available in most grocery stores, (look for "tasting room only" pours which are sometimes offered). But you do get a Beringer souvenir glass with the tasting!
You can go to the Old Winery Reserve Tasting Room and get a reserve tasting of your choice of four wines for $25.
Nice, knowledgeable staff and a wide array of wines make this a good stop when passing through St. Helena.
